Editing Rates on a Per-session Basis

Besides manually overriding market rates as required for a one-off use (for example, to price up a specific option or to create a one-off volatility surface) you can also edit the rates for a commodity on a per-session basis and instruct SDX Commodities & Energy to use them (instead of the real-time market rates) in the page from which you opened the Term Structure.

If you make changes to a commodity’s Term Structure page, the changes only affect calculations in the page from which the Term Structure was accessed. That is, if you make changes to the Single Option page’s term structure for the commodity Brent Crude Oil, this will not affect the term structure used to create the volatility surface for this same commodity in the Volatility Surface page.

You can edit the rates manually or using the parallel shift functionality as described in Shifting Data used in the Term Structure.

Once you have edited a rate in this page, it is highlighted in blue.

The edited rates are then used until:

The current session ends.

In the Term Structure page itself you click Refresh.

In the page from which you opened the edited Term Structure page you click Clear or Refresh.

To edit the rates for the current commodity on a per-session basis:

1. In the Term Structure page, edit the rates as necessary.
2. Click Accept. The Term Structure page closes and the edited rates are saved into the database for this commodity.
