Defining a Portfolio’s Currency

All of a portfolio’s instruments must be in the same currency.

If you instruct the system to change the currency for an existing portfolio (i.e., you have defined one or more instruments), the system asks you if you want to clear all instruments, or if you want to keep those that are supported by the new currency1. If you choose the latter option, the system will automatically amend the market data (such as the fixed rate and the default index) for the new currency. For example, if the currency is GBP and you have a vanilla swap, by default the index will be 6m LIBOR. If you then change the currency to EUR, the index will be updated to 6m Euribor.

To change a portfolio’s currency:

1. In the Portfolio page, from the Currency dropdown list select the required currency. If no instruments were defined, the currency is changed. However, if you have defined one or more instruments, the system will ask you if you want to clear the portfolio or to keep those instruments supported by the new currency.
2. Click Yes or No (as relevant). The currency is changed and, if you clicked Yes, the instruments are cleared; if you clicked No, the instruments are updated for the new currency.
