By default when you open one of the market data pages—Swaption Volatility Surface, Cap/Floor Volatility Surface, Yield Curve, Inflation Curve, OIS Curve, BMA Curve, Government Bonds Curve, UDI Curve, UF Curve, Swaption Forward Rates, Cap Term Structure—the system displays the market data for the cut-off time selected in the pricing page.
It is important to note that subsequently this data is not automatically refreshed. However, although the data displayed in the market data page is not automatically updated, as long as you have not frozen the rates, the system continues using the most current rates for the selected cut-off time in the pricing pages and in any calculations.
By default, clicking the Refresh button updates the open page with the market rates for the selected cut-off time and then recalculates all relevant data accordingly. So, for example, in the Swaption Volatility Surface page it calculates all implied volatilities and normal volatilities; in the Yield Curve page it not only updates the relevant interest rates, but also automatically recalculates each price and convexity (as relevant), discount factor and zero rate as well.
However, if in the current session for the current market data type (e.g., the yield curve or the inflation curve or the OIS curve) you have edited and then frozen the rates for a number of currencies and/or trade dates, you have two Refresh s. That is, when you click the Refresh button a window pops up that gives you two choices as follows:
Refresh
This action will refresh the market data in the current currency on the selected trade date for this market data type only.
|
If you are in the Yield Curve page, for a currency with more than one underlying index this function will automatically refresh the market data in all the indexes on the selected trade date. |
Refresh All1
This action will refresh the market data in all the curves (i.e., for all currencies and all trade dates) frozen in this session for this market data type only.
So if you have made changes to two of the OIS curves and to two of the yield curves, and then in the Yield Curve page you click the Refresh button and then click Refresh All, the system will refresh the market data only in the two yield curves. To refresh the data in the OIS curves, you will need to access the OIS Curve page and from there click the Refresh button and then Refresh All.
|
If you click the Refresh button in either pricing page this instructs the system to refresh the use of the market rates in all the market data pages to the market rates saved in the system for the selected cut-off time in each of those pages. |
