Saving an Instrument in the Single Option Page

From the Single Option page, you can save an instrument once you have entered its details (including the expiry date and market data).

An instrument is always saved using the Portfolio Management window, from where you can save it into any of the following folders:

My Portfolio folder

Public folder

Shared folder

You can choose to save it on its own—using the Home tab > Save button. However, if you do this and you choose to save it into an existing portfolio, note that the existing deals in the selected portfolio will be deleted.

Alternatively, you can add it into an existing portfolio while keeping the rest of the instruments already in that portfolio—you do this (using the Home tab > Add to Portfolio button).

Note the following:

Regardless of how you save it, the instrument is always saved with its own market rates, i.e., the rates displayed in the Single Option page at the time the instrument is saved.

If you are saving a supported strip (swap strip, vanilla strip, Asian strip and forward strip) into an existing portfolio then you must also choose whether to save it into the portfolio as a single structure or decomposed into its underlying instruments.

By default, when the Portfolio Management window opens, the My Portfolios folder is active. That is, the portfolio will be saved into this folder if you do not select another folder. As access to this folder is limited to a particular user (the user it belongs to), there is no way for other users to access portfolios in this folder. Therefore, if you want users to be able to access your portfolios you need to save them into the Public folder or the Shared folder.

To save an option on its own:

1. After entering an option click the Home Tab > Save button. The Portfolio Management window opens.
2. Navigate to the relevant folder.
3. Do either of the following:

Enter a new portfolio name and click Save and then OK. The instrument is saved as a new portfolio.

w Enter an existing portfolio name and click Save and then OK. The portfolio is saved in the existing portfolio, and the existing deals in the portfolio are deleted.

To save an option into an existing portfolio:

1. After entering an instrument, click the Home Tab > Add to Portfolio button. The Portfolio Management window opens, displaying all portfolios that include trades for the same commodity.

For a supported strip you must select whether you want to add it to an existing portfolio as a single structure (using the “Add as Strip instrument” option) or decomposed into its underlying instruments (using the “Add as multi leg” option).

2. Navigate to the relevant portfolio and click Save.
3. Click OK.
