Defining a Strike

You can define an instrument’s strike (i.e., a swaption’s fixed rate or a cap/floor’s cap/floor) in a number of ways as follows:

Manually by entering a given amount (i.e., an absolute or explicit strike).

So to define an actual rate as a percentage, such as 1.43, simply enter the number.

Using a keyboard shortcut. For example, using the keyboard shortcuts, you can tell the system what sort of strike you want, for example, the strike of a 25 delta instrument or an ATM instrument, and SDX Interest Rates then works out what the actual strike should be.

See Defining a Strike Using Keyboard Shortcuts.

Using a relative index reference plus an optional spread. The system then calculates the absolute amount using this definition.

See Defining a Relative Strike, Cap Rate or Fixed Rate.
