Managing a Public Profile

It is important to note that to work with Public Profile (whether to create a new one or to edit an existing one) you need administrative permissions for working with public profiles. To enable this functionality for your user contact support@sdgm.com.

However, anyone can view a group profile and, if desired, save it as their own MyProfile profile.

When you create a new public profile you can edit its settings, choose its name and choose the group assigned to it (i.e., the group whose users will be able to see this profile afterwards). However, note that in order to be able to assign a group to a new public profile, you must be a member of that group. Moreover, if you assign a group that is already assigned to another public profile, the system will delete the other profile. The system does however warn you before doing this by displaying a message.

When editing an existing public profile you can only edit its settings; you cannot edit its name or the user group assigned to it. In addition, note that if you edit a public profile, these changes will only affect a user who is using this public profile the next time that user logs into the system. That is, the changes will not take affect immediately for other users.

To create a new public profile:

1. In the Settings window from the View Profile Settings dropdown list select SD Profile.
2. Make any changes as necessary to the settings.
3. Click the Save as Public button.
4. In the Profile Name textbox enter the name of the new public profile.
5. From the User Group dropdown list select the name of the user group you want to assign to this public profile.
6. Click Save.

To edit a public profile:

1. From the View Profile Settings dropdown list select the public profile you want to edit.
2. Make any changes as necessary to the settings.
3. Click the Save as Public button.
4. Click Save.
