Adding an Instrument to a Portfolio

Once you have defined an instrument in the Single Option page, you can save using the Save Quote button (see Saving an Instrument in the Single Option Page). In addition, you can save it into a portfolio, either a new or existing one.

If you are adding an instrument to an existing portfolio, its currency must be the same as that of the existing portfolio.

Before you can save an instrument to a portfolio, you must first calculate it. Subsequently, when you save it, any calculated rates (for example, the fixed rate or the spread) are saved in the system as though they were manually edited by the user. This is true even if these rates were not edited by the user. When you next open this instrument the calculated rates are displayed as they were saved. To emphasize that they were saved as user inputs, these fields are highlighted in blue.

Saving a single instrument to a portfolio involves using the Portfolio Management window. For more information on working in this window see Working in the Portfolio Management Window.

Subsequently to access the instrument which you have saved to a portfolio you will need to open it in the Portfolio page. For more information see Overview of Opening a Portfolio in the Portfolio Page.

You can add an instrument to a portfolio as many times as you like.

If you add a strategy from the Single Option page to a portfolio, when you subsequently view it in the Portfolio page each individual component of the strategy will be displayed as a separate instrument.
