Editing the Rates in an Inflation Curve

By default when you open the Inflation Curve the system displays the market data for the cut-off time set in the pricing page from which it was opened.

In this page you can edit the inflation rates as required for specific cut-off times. You can do this using either or both of the following methods:

You can manually edit the inflation rates. After you edit a value in the yield curve, the background of that field turns blue.

You can copy and paste inflation rates within the yield curve. After you do this the background of each field with a pasted rate turns blue. For more information seeCopying & Pasting Data in the Inflation Curve.

Editing an inflation rate also affects the forward index for the same tenor. However, to see this change you must first click the Calculate button.

After making any changes, you can then tell the system to freeze the rates, that is, to use the edited rates until further notification. You do this by clicking the Accept button. Once you click the Accept button the rates are frozen, as noted in the screen. This lets you see at a glance that the rates being used are frozen. The frozen rates are then used in the pricing pages until you do one of the following:

Click the Refresh button in the inflation curve page.

Click the Refresh button in the Single Option page or the Portfolio page.

Log out of the system.

If as a result of your changes any of the rates are now invalid, they will be displayed in red. For more information on invalid rates in the yield curve see Understanding the Colors Used for Rates in a Yield Curve.

To keep your edited yield curve you must save it into the SD-IR Explorer window. For more information see Saving an Inflation Curve.

To edit a rate in the inflation curve page:

1. Access the inflation curve page.
2. Select the rate you want to edit and enter the new value.
3. Click outside the cell. The call is highlighted in blue.
4. To update the corresponding forward inflation rate click the Calculate button.
5. To instruct the system to use the edited data displayed in this page in all calculations as relevant (instead of the system data) until instructed otherwise, click Accept. This action automatically recalculates the forward inflation rates as well.
