Customizing Your Default Settings

In the Settings window (see Customizing SDX Interest Rates) the Default Settings tab lets you control your general defaults settings in the General tab, your default currency settings in the Currency tab, and your default Portfolio page settings in the Portfolio tab.

In the:

General tab you can control:

The date format used. You can choose an American format (MM/DD/YY) or a European format (DD/M/YY).

The default currency used in the pricing pages.

Which pricing page displays on accessing the system, the Single Option page or the Portfolio page.

Which instrument is displayed by default in a pricing page.

How long a session should remain open before timing out if there is no user activity. You can choose between 3 hours and 24 hours.

The market data source to be used by default in the system.

Subsequently in the system you can always edit the market data source used on a case by case basis.

Whether the average life value is displayed for supported instruments.

Whether the system can use negative rates to create yield curves and OIS curves. You do this in the Settings window in the Default Settings tab > General tab by unchecking the Use Negative Rates checkbox.

Whether the pure LIBOR curves or the co-bootstrapped LIBOR-OIS curves are used when you select a non-collateralization method.

For your own user which of the three user type tabs—the Trader tab, the Sales tab and the Structurer tab—on the ribbon bar opens by default when you access SDX Interest Rates.

You do this using the Default Role dropdown list.

 

As this setting affects all the profiles for your user (the SD Profile, your MyProfile profile and any public profiles), once you have changed it, the setting is automatically saved for your user by the system. You do not have to save it manually.

Currency tab for each currency (selected from the Currency dropdown list at the top of this tab) you can:

Customize the cut-off time to be used by default in historical pricing. Subsequently in the system you can always edit the cut-off time used on a case by case basis.

Control which collateralization method is used (and therefore from which curve the discount factors are taken). For more information see Using Collateralization .

Portfolio tab you can control:

Which saved portfolio opens by default.

You can access any type of portfolio you have saved in your My Portfolios folder, as well as any portfolio, template, structure template or structure saved by any user in your group in the following folders—Public Portfolios folder, the Public Structures Templates folder, the Public Templates folder and the Uploaded Portfolios folder.

The default results unit.

By default results are displayed as amounts and cannot currently be changed.

How many deals are displayed in the vertical view of the Portfolio page.

By default, five deals are displayed. You can change it to display any number of deals between five and 15 inclusive.

How many deals are displayed by default in the horizontal view of the Portfolio page.

By default, 14 deals are displayed. You can change it to display any number of deals between five and 25 inclusive.

To customize your default settings:

1. Access the Settings window (see Accessing the Settings Window).
2. From the View Profile Settings dropdown list select the profile you want to see the settings for.
3. In the Default Settings tab click the General tab or the Currency tab or the Portfolio tab.
4. Make any necessary changes.
5. If you are in:

The SD profile you can save these changes to your MyProfile profile (by clicking the Save as MyProfile button and then clicking Yes) or to a public profile (by clicking the Save as Profile button, entering a profile name and user group, and then clicking Save and then OK).

A public profile you can save these changes to your MyProfile profile (by clicking the Save as MyProfile button) or to the current public profile (by clicking the Save as Profile button and then Save and then OK).

Your MyProfile profile you can only save these changes to your MyProfile by clicking the Save as MyProfile button and then clicking Yes.

The changes are saved.

6. When you close the Settings window if you want your changes to be immediately applied to the current window click Yes. The changes are applied.
